Activity Description:

Prescription drug pricing reform is a high-profile issue heading into the 2020 elections. President Trump, members of Congress, and the Democratic presidential candidates are all competing to address Americans’ concerns over the high cost of prescription drugs. This session will provide an update on the proposals under consideration, including proposals to restructure the Medicare Part D benefit, and an analysis on how those proposals could impact patient access to treatment and the way prescription drug benefits will be designed and managed in the future.

Learning Objectives: 

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Summarize the Trump Administration’s actions on drug pricing.
  2. Explain the similarities and differences between major pieces of drug pricing legislation under consideration by Congress.
  3. Discuss the drug pricing reform proposals included in the platforms of the major Democratic presidential candidates.

This activity consists of an audio recording, pre-test assessment questions (not required to pass to continue), post-test questions (required to pass with a score of 70% or higher) and a specific activity evaluation.
