Activity Description

While a dozen states have implemented new Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Medicaid models, another 12 are in the planning phases. These models include the use of innovative value-based payment structures, quality measurement, and improvement components, along with the use of health information technology (HIT) and data analysis. The application of inventive payment models through ACOs is still new, but early results appear promising.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn best practices and pitfalls from the experiences of those who recently implemented a large ACO model.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe at least two ways in which Accountable Care Organization (ACO) models differ from traditional care models.
  2. Discuss the value of the Medicaid ACO model.
  3. Identify key implementation activities and best practices for ACO model implementation.
